Solutions · Pilot and development plants
From product idea to documented process
We develop flexible pilot and small-scale plants for developing, testing and producing cheese on a smaller scale.
In brief – for those making the investment decision
Potential operational effect
Development and testing without tying up capacity in the production line.
Basis for calculation
- Number of trials per year
- Batch sizes
- Production time freed up
- Changeover time
- Staffing
Risk and other value
Repeatable trials with process data that can serve as the basis for scale-up – and the possibility of fewer trials in ongoing production.
The expected effect is calculated from your baseline and depends on product, process, capacity and operation.
The starting point
Real processes on a smaller scale
The plant makes it possible to repeat and document trials without tying up a full production line.
The functions are developed to reflect the production the results will later be used in. That is the difference between a trial that can be scaled up and a trial that only holds true in the laboratory.
- Repeatable trials
- Documented process data
- Smaller batch sizes
- Flexible operation
Possible scope
What the plant can include
The scope is agreed based on what you need to develop and document – from individual process steps to a complete cheese plant on a small scale.
- Pasteurization or heat treatment
- Small-scale cheese vat
- Dosing of cultures and ingredients
- Coagulation, cutting and stirring
- Draining, mold filling and pressing
- Tanks, pumps, valves and piping
- CIP (cleaning-in-place), automation and data logging
In practice
A complete small-scale cheese plant
Novonesis
HSV Combi has delivered a complete small-scale cheese plant to Novonesis. The plant makes it possible to test new cultures and rennet in a realistic cheese process and to produce full-size cheeses of up to 20 kg.
How we start
Start with what you need to investigate
Tell us which processes the trials need to cover and which production the results will later be used in. We build the scope up from there.
Feel free to describe cheese type, batch size and the data you need to be able to record.
